Autumn Milking Shorthorn Sale Series – Link Livestock

Milking Shorthorn Sales
Link Livestock Ltd is pleased to announce the Autumn Milking Shorthorn Sale Series via bidr.

This series of sales of both North and South Island cattle is in response to greatly increased interest in the breed as evidenced in last years sales results and general interest in a different breed with different positive traits.

March 8thNZ Milking Shorthorn Conference Sale comprising 14 incalf Heifers, 6 heifer calves and 1 bull calf from around the country. Although the conference has been cancelled the sale will go ahead via bidr.

March 15th: Brecon Milking Shorthorn Sale on behalf of Red Cow Farm, the McDonald family comprising 31 Incalf Heifers, 14 Heifer calves, 1 x20 Born Bull and 1 x 21 bull calf from their 530 cow herd established in 1987.

April 4th: Northbrook Milking Shorthorns on behalf of Northbrook Enterprises Ltd, the Wood family comprising 30 Incalf Heifers from their 270 cow herd established in 1973.

April 11th: Edenmore Milking Shorthorns on behalf of Norm and Del Atkins comprising 6 incalf heifers as part of their Mixed dairy breeds sale which will be a Hybrid bidr sale also on farm auction.

May 4th: Te Kiripi Milking Shorthorns on behalf of Phil Garrett comprising 15 cows, 20 incalf Heifers and 20 Heifer calves from his 1000 cow herd established in 1954.

All sale cattle have been tested BVD negative.

The competition to consist of the following classes:
(A)   Mature Cow, 4 years and over
(B)   Cow, 3 years old
(C)   Heifer, 2 years old
(D)   Heifer, 1 year old
(E)   Heifer Calf
(F)   Bull, one year or under
(G)   Bull, two years and over
(H)   Herd Scene
(I)   Special Class, for photographs depicting a Milking Shorthorn activity or personality (Novelty, fun or social)

The competition to consist of the following classes:

Class 1A Informal: 12 years old and under
• Yearling Heifer or calf
• Judged on capturing the appealing interaction between calf and youth person
• Both animal and person in the photo
• Amateur photo, no professional photos

Class 1B Informal: 13 – 25 years old
• Yearling Heifer or calf
• Judged on capturing the appealing interaction between calf and youth person
• Both animal and person in the photo
• Amateur photo, no professional photos

Class 2A Formal: 12 years old and under
• Yearling heifer or calf
• Judged on yearling heifer or calf type, background, dress and presentation of handler, presentation of animal
• Both animal and person in the photo
• Amateur photo – no professional, no digital editing
• Photo in colour

Class 2B Formal: 13 – 25 years old
• Yearling heifer or calf
• Judged on yearling heifer or calf type, background, dress and presentation of handler, presentation of animal
• Both animal and person in the photo
• Amateur photo – no professional, no digital editing
• Photo in colour

Class 3 Novelty: 25 years old and under
• Any type of group or individual animal/s
• Any age of animal/s
• Humorous, cute, interesting
