CLOW & MURPHY YOUTH POINTS COMPETITION
Participants compete for the Clow Trophy (Junior) and the Murphy Trophy (Senior), awarded annually to the competitors who accumulate the highest number of points in their respective age categories.

Rules:

  1. Open to any person meeting the age criteria who is showing a Milking Shorthorn calf and/or yearling that is true to breed colour and registered, or eligible for registration, with a minimum status of S1S.
    • Junior: 12 years and under as at 31 May.
    • Senior: 13 to 25 years of age from 1 June.
  2. Entrants must use the same calf and/or yearling throughout the competition and be the animal’s handler. The same animal cannot be used by multiple entrants.
  3. The animal(s) do not have to be owned by the entrant; however, the entrant must be responsible for their preparation.
  4. Points can be collected at official A&P Shows and will also be accepted from Club Shows and On-Farm Competitions, provided these are declared when entering. No points will be awarded for Pet Day classes, Handler classes, Pairs classes etc.
  5. The competition will run annually from 1 June to 31 May.
  6. Animals must be entered by 30 September each year.
    Entrants may record their results using either the official results card or the online results form.
  7. Results may be submitted throughout the show season or completed and submitted at the end of the competition year. All results must be received by the NZ Milking Shorthorn office by 31 May following the competition year.
  8. Points allocation:

    Breeds section

    (Calf or Yearling Heifer, e.g. Milking Shorthorn or Other Breeds, depending on the show)

    • 1st – 6 points
    • 2nd – 5 points
    • 3rd – 4 points
    • 4th – 3 points
    • 5th – 2 points
    • 6th and below – 1 participation point

Additional Championship Points

Junior Champion Milking Shorthorn (or Other Breeds): 10 points

Reserve Junior Champion Milking Shorthorn (or Other Breeds): 8 points

All Breeds Classes
Points for All Breeds Calf and All Breeds Yearling Heifer classes are awarded using the same scale as the Breed Section; however, no participation points are awarded for placings of 6th or below.
